WE’RE just a few weeks away now from the start of the summer festival season, and we can’t wait.

Readipop is three days of great music in Caversham, and there are some brilliant acts on the bill. We’re giving you a preview this week with two of them making an appearance in our hit parade.

Readipop is a great local festival which, as well as featuring established artists, champions up and coming artists from the local area.

One of the latter is Grace Pounds who has just released her second single, Bloodstream.

Like her first single, Notice, which we featured earlier this year, it is another quality well-played and recorded song which suggests that Grace is a talent to watch out for.

If you are going to Readipop next month (July 12-14) make sure you check her out there.

Echobelly – Scream

Here is one of those established artists headlining at Readipop.

It’s one of the best bands that came out of the 90s, where they released classic albums such as On and Everyone’s Got One which are chock full of melodic exciting indie rock classics.

This song Scream closes the latter of those and it’s a real epic building throughout to its climatic ending and it shows what a powerful voice Sonya Madan from the band has.

The band will be closing Readipop on the Sunday, so don’t miss that – www.echobelly.com

Masquerader – Pressure (Holy Trinity Cut)

‘Masquerader fizzed with energy as they barrelled onto the stage at Face Bar, steeped in acidic guitar and thrashing vocal style’, said Jake Clothier in his review in this paper of the Reading-based at Are You Listening? Festival.

It sums them up perfectly and you can hear that energy on songs such as this awesome mix that appears on their Nothing Will Change EP – linktr.ee/Masquerader

Áine Deane – The Sisterhood

Áine has supported Sam Smith at the Royal Albert Hall and Hozier on one of his tours so she must be good.

We can confirm that as we’ve seen her live and are looking forward to seeing her again when she headlines the Wokingham Music Club Stage at Wokingham Festival on Saturday, August 24. – www.ainedeanemusic.com

Phantom Booth – Thieving Hound

Talking of Wokingham Festival, here is a band that played there last year. This is their first release of the year, and, as we have come to expect from this band, it’s a good one – linktr.ee/phantombooth

Amanda Lehmann – Tinkerbell

There is a great opportunity to see this renowned musician – she also plays in Steve Hackett’s touring band – when she opens the main stage at Wokingham Festival on August Bank Holiday Monday – www.amandalehmann.co.uk
