CHRISTMAS seems so long ago now; the time spent with family, the presents, the eating and drinking, and the opportunity to sing carols by candlelight, all a distant memory.
January has brought us back with a bang to realise that nothing has changed.
Russia is still bombing Ukraine, people are still being shot and knifed, the US still postures aggressively, first with Venezuela then Greenland and Trump taking pot shots at Europe.
Chaos continues and not just the man-made chaos.
We’ve already been hit by torrential rain, gales, and freezing weather (though Wokingham has come off lightly).
As we look to the rest of the year, how it will unfold?
There is much to make us afraid, whether that is global warming, AI taking away our jobs, or war with… who knows? China? Russia? or even our friends across the pond!
The Bible says that behind all this there is a spiritual war going on.
And it is in the spiritual realm that God revealed the answer.
The angels appeared giving glory to God, and telling the world ‘on earth peace to those on whom his favour rests.’
Jesus came into the world to bring us peace as we trust in him and listen to his voice as, in his words to his disciples, ‘that in me you may have peace.
‘In this world you will have trouble. But take heart!
‘I have overcome the world.’
