A BOROUGH designer who recently set up a new fashion store in Crowthorne, has shown her work at London Fashion Week.
Joanna Day, owner of Byzantium Boutique, said: “It was incredible and empowering to be part of the show.
“The atmosphere was electric.
“And I was selected to close the show, too, which was an absolute honour.”
Ms Day’s store, on Crowthorne High Street, has three collections: Ready to Wear, Vintage And Preloved, and Made To Order.
Her made to order and preloved range are designed with the environment in mind.
Ms Day can create a one off item using sustainable materials, with a design tailored completely to the customer.
She can also transform a garment that is still much loved but no longer wearable, into something special and unique.
Visitors to the boutique can also view a range of ready to wear pieces, during two days each week, with one to one consultations also bookable by appointment.
“Back when I was in London studying Fashion Design, I worked in Harvey Nics Designer Collections,” said Ms Day.
“They played Fashion TV in the store, on repeat.
“For the whole eight hours a day I would stand there listening to the tracks of each show.
“I used to imagine that one day it would be my models walking down the catwalk to them.
“So for my show this London Fashion Week, I used a remix of those same tracks that I used to daydream to.
“It’s incredible not just to be selected to show at London Fashion Week, but to be part of something green, sustainable and inclusive.
“I had models from sizes six to 20, and received international coverage, so I’m very pleased.”
Show reviewers posted that they were impressed by the ‘stunning Byzantine inspired pieces of embellished dresses and co-ords, all expertly paired with accessories, representing diverse fashion in a stand out and beautiful way.’
The London Fashion Week took place from Friday, September 15 to Tuesday, September 19.

It is open for walk-in on Fridays and Saturdays between 9am and 1pm.
