Thanks to a kind donation from the Ramgarhia Sabha Reading (RSR), patients on Castle Ward at The Royal Berkshire Hospital (RBH) will be able to rest more comfortably when out of bed in a fabulous new reclining chair.
Donations for the chair, which cost £1,225, came from members of the local Sikh community who visit the Gurdwara on London Road in Earley.
At the presentation Steve McManus, Chief Executive at the Trust that runs the RBH, said: “We thank you for your generosity.
“You are a great supporter of the Trust and of the wider community we serve.
“Your volunteers willingly give so much of their time to run a variety of groups, and to help those less fortunate and the Royal Berkshire is incredibly grateful for your support.
“We are delighted that you have undertaken to raise similar funds for another chair for our ward that cares for patients who are receiving palliative care – thank you once again.
“I look forward to continuing to work together for the benefit of local people.”
The hospital said that the chair will provide a comfortable seat for patients when they are out of bed, and for relatives that may need to stay overnight the recliner will be a perfect place to rest.
Baldev Sian, President of the RSR said: “We are delighted to be giving you this chair and we hope it will provide patients with many, many hours of comfort.
“We are all part of the community and our members very much appreciate the care they receive when coming to the hospital.
“We feel it is important that we give something back, and are very happy to be able to support the services you provide that impact so positively on the lives of the local community when they are unwell. This relationship continues to deliver services to those in need.”
