Police will deploy live facial recognition vans in Reading during the August bank holiday weekend.
The vans will be stationed on and around Thames Promenade from Thursday, 27 August, until Sunday, 30 August.
Thames Valley Police said its specialist live facial recognition (LFR) team would work alongside local officers during the operation.
The technology will be used to help identify people wanted by police and deter crime, the force said.
Officers will also be available to answer questions from members of the public about how the technology works.
The force said its team would be happy to demonstrate the technology and explain how it is used.
The deployment comes as Reading prepares for a busy bank holiday weekend, with police saying the operation is intended to help keep communities safe.
Live facial recognition technology uses cameras to scan faces and compare them against a watchlist of people police are seeking to identify.
Thames Valley Police has previously used the technology as part of policing operations across the region.
