FC Bracknell’s joint managers Bailey Gandolfi and Rob Jones are raring to go for the new football season as the club enters a brand new Saturday team into the league.
“It’s been one long journey to where we are now from speaking to FC Bracknell’s Chair Neil at Kings Academy, Easthampstead park School on a cold Thursday night in December saying; ‘fancy going into the football pyramid?’,” said Gandolfi.
“He said to me “let’s give it a go!” From only having 14 players for our first trial all the way back in April, to now having a squad of 25.
“We have really come a long way in a short space of time.”
FC Bracknell started their non league journey against Bracknell Aces, where they came out 4-2 winners .
With more than 60 people coming down to support, FC Bracknell started the game off strongly and had two chances put over the bar in the opening five minutes.
The Blues took control of the game and soon got their goal when Bracken scored with a wonderful strike at the near post to give them a 1-0 lead. Bracken played for the u17s team last season.
Aces had a strong five minutes spell where they were awarded a penalty and converted from the spot.
FC Bracknell took the game by the scruff of the neck and just after half-time and Callum Cobb made it 2-1.
Callum, only 17, who started his footballing journey at FCB’s Soccer School, put the ball into the top corner.
Not long after, Thiery scored a wonderful free kick into the top corner.
FC Bracknell continued playing some nice football before the Aces were awarded a free kick and their captain scored a wonderful goal to make it 3-2.
The game was even until the last 10 minutes when Andre took his chance and slotted it home in the bottom corner, assisted by Ben Clark (19), who also has been with the Blues since Soccer School.
FC Bracknell made it a moment to remember as the team taking their first step into the football pyramid.
