Former Reading FC prospect Caylan Vickers has joined Burton Albion on a permanent deal from Brighton & Hove Albion.
The 21-year-old forward has signed a two-year contract at the Pirelli Stadium, with Burton holding an option to extend his stay by a further season.
The Brewers have paid an undisclosed fee to secure Vickers’ services after he spent more than two years with Brighton.
Vickers came through the academy at Reading and was regarded as one of the club’s most promising young players before leaving for Premier League side Brighton in 2024.
He made his senior debut for the Royals during the opening game of the 2023/24 League One season against Peterborough United and went on to make a number of first-team appearances before his departure.
The attacker was given opportunities to gain senior experience following his move to Brighton, enjoying loan spells elsewhere in League One.
Vickers’ permanent switch to Burton now offers him the opportunity to establish himself at a club following a series of temporary moves.
In announcing the signing, Burton said: “We are delighted to welcome Caylan Vickers, who joins us from Brighton & Hove Albion for an undisclosed fee.”
The club added that the former Reading youngster had signed a two-year deal, with the option of an additional season in East Staffordshire.
Vickers will now be hoping to make his mark with the Brewers as he returns to League One on a permanent basis.
