The Jack O’Newbury in Binfield is set to open today (Wednesday).
This is chef Dom Chapman and restaurateur Nigel Sutcliffe’s first joint hospitality destination.
They are opening The Jack O’Newbury following more than two years of major renovations to the former village inn.
‘The Jack features interiors from Bath-based Alfred House, including an 80-cover dining room, a 20-seater terrace complete with an Argentinian grill, ‘The Snug’ bar area with a wood-burning stove, and a purpose-built pavilion for private events.
There are 11 bedrooms divided between the central pub building and adjacent renovated barn. Rooms start from £170 a night.
Located on two acres of private ground, The Jack’s outdoor dining terrace overlooks the restaurant’s very own wildflower meadow and herb garden, which will supply the kitchen.
Dom Chapman’s menu presents elevated pub favourites, with a few European influences and a grill section spotlighting prime cuts from British farmers. Example menu attached.
Dom and Nigel originally met whilst working at Heston Blumenthal’s The Fat Duck Group.
Dom was formerly head chef of The Hind’s Head before running various restaurants across Berkshire including The Royal Oak, Paley Street and The Beehive in White Waltham.
Nigel Sutcliffe, who will oversee day-to-day operations at The Jack, was formerly managing director of The Fat Duck Group, and has since helped shape multiple hospitality businesses in the home counties under his consultancy, Truffle Hunting.
