A selection of cases that have come up at Reading Magistrates Court

A MAN from Shinfield is due to appear in court charged with stealing alcohol.

Wasim Ahmed Javed, 31, of Oatlands Drive, is accused of stealing alcohol, worth £124, from Marks and Spencer in Reading on January 27 this year.

Mr Javed denies the charge.

He has been remanded on conditional bail to appear at Reading Magistrates’ Court on June 16 for the trial.

 
A MAN from Wokingham has pleaded guilty to drink driving.

Skernti Seitai, 25, of Budges Road, appeared at Reading Magistrates’ Court on April 25 where he admitted driving in Wokingham on April 8 this year while over the alcohol limit.

Mr Seitai was banned from driving for 12 months, fined £350, ordered to pay a surcharge of £35 and costs of £85.

 

 

A WOMAN from Woodley has pleaded guilty to assault.

Louise Sally Beasley, 23, of Drovers Way, appeared at Reading Magistrates’ Court on April 25 where she admitted assaulting a woman in Wokingham on July 1 last year.

Miss Beasley was ordered to pay compensation of £60, and costs of £85, and was made the subject of a community order requiring her to participate in supervised community work for 20 days.
A MAN from Shinfield has been fined £10 for stealing a petrol cap.

Gary Edward Thomson, 44, of Rushden Drive, appeared at Reading Magistrates’ Court on April 25 where he was fined £10 for stealing the petrol cap from a woman in West Street, Reading between January 11 and January 13 this year. Mr Thomson had previously admitted the charge.

Mr Thomson was also found guilty of interfering with a car in Harley Road, Caversham, on February 16 this year. Mr Thomson denied this charge, but was found guilty and fined £150, ordered to pay a £30 surcharge, and costs of £315.

 

A MAN from Wokingham has pleaded guilty to two driving offences.

Michael James Gallagher, 57 of Patten Ash Drive, appeared at Reading Magistrates’ Court on April 26 where he admitted driving while over the alcohol limit and driving without third party insurance.

Both charges relate to an incident in Wokingham on April 8 this year.

Mr Gallagher was fined £85, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30, and costs of £120.
He was banned from holding a licence for 18 months.

 

 

A WOMAN from Spencers Wood has been banned from driving for three years.

Elizabeth Claire Hiley, 34, of Hilltop Gardens, appeared at Reading Magistrates’ Court on April 26 where she was found guilty of driving in Reading on November 5 last year while over the alcohol limit.

Miss Hiley was ordered to carry out 10 days of supervised community work for 10 days; fined £100, ordered to pay a surcharge of £85 and costs of £750; and was banned from holding a licence for three years.

 

 

A WOMAN from Earley has been handed a suspended prison sentence after admitting two racial or religiously aggravated charges.

Lisa Bowden, 21 of Collins Drive, appeared at Reading Magistrates’ Court where she entered an indicated plea of guilty for one count of racially or religiously aggravated criminal damage to the windscreen of a car in Asda car park, in Lower Earley, on December 23 last year, and one count of racially or religiously aggravated common assault of a man in the same place on the same day.

Miss Bowden was given an eight-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, and ordered to comply with a rehabilitation activity requirement for up to 20 days within the next 12 months.

She was also ordered to pay a total compensation of £175, a surcharge of £115, and costs of £200.

 

 

A MAN from Wokingham is due to appear in court charged with dangerous driving.

Tariq Stenlake, 26, of Langborough Road, is accused of driving a motorcycle dangerously in Wokingham Road and London Road on March 10, and failing to stop when directed by a police officer. Mr Stenlake denies the charges.

He has been remanded on unconditional bail to appear at Reading Crown Court on May 30 for the trial.
