Wokingham Borough Council has revealed minor delays to the reopening schedule for California crossroads in Finchampstead.
In an email to local residents, it said: “We had hoped to get the crossroads open this week, with traffic lights, while we finished the rest of the work.
“However, some additional drainage and access issues are causing the work to take a bit longer to complete.
“Teams are working extra hours to make up for this, however it is likely to be Monday, September 2, before the main junction is ready to open, once drainage work going into Avery Road car park have been completed.
“Pedestrians and vehicles will then be able to access Avery Corner car park, however the last remaining works in front of the shops will carry on after this date.
“Pedestrian walkways will be segregated and clearly signed during this period.”
It added that once the main junction is re-opened, it will work on resurfacing the roads and installing line markings under night closures, between 8pm and 6am.
“All properties and residents directly affected by the resurfacing works will receive a letter about the closures with dates and durations.”
It confirmed the car park and access road will be open in time for schools coming back, and it would be in contact with the schools and businesses directly to discuss arrangements.
