READING FC boss Paul Ince has admitted that he will rotate his team for their FA Cup third-round tie against Watford.
Up against fellow Championship opposition, the Hornets will also expect to make changes despite being in the midst of an injury crisis.
“Whatever team Watford put out will be good players and a good team.” said Ince.
“They’ve brought a couple of players in already so they will probably start.
“As I’ve said, it doesn’t change my thinking. I’ve got to rest some of my players naturally because of the journey we’ve had in the last month with going to Norwich and against West Brom we were out on our feet.
“Credit to them because the boys had to dig in and try and get something out of the game so there will be certain players that won’t be involved.
“But we will have certain people on the bench who can come on and change the game if need be.”
The Royals boss explained that he doesn’t believe the FA Cup should have replays this year and is determined for his team to get the job done on the day.
He continued: “On a replay: It’s a funny one because Sheffield United play Millwall and if they win and we lose then we get a spare weekend off.
“That can help in its way but you don’t really want replays and I felt this year, especially with the World Cup, we should have had no replays.
“It should be one game, penalty shootout and then finished. I as a manager don’t want them, we play enough games as it is so to have to play a replay would not be ideal because that puts extra injuries at risk so hopefully we can get the job done.”
Ince also gave an update on the fitness of his players.
“He’s (Scott Dann) been fine and training today. The lads had a couple of days off after West Brom and rightly so.
“He’s another one who has come out of it with no stiffness or injury worries and another one that can go again on Saturday.
“The more he keeps playing, the better he will get. He’s not at his sharpest yet, like Naby (Sarr), and that will take two or three weeks. So this game will be another one where he can gain his sharpness.
He’s (Tom Holmes) still ill which is a strange one, he’s got this virus which is going around. It’s been a week now, I was hoping he’d be back for Saturday but he’s not there yet so hopefully we have him back for the QPR game.”
