The campaigner behind an application for Wokingham to be approved for a banking hub has vowed to fight on.
Last week, the LINK organisation rejected the application from former Wokingham town mayor and councillor, Lynn Forbes, for the town to become home to a shared banking space.
Lynn told Wokingham Today: “I am not giving up.
“We have 28 days to appeal the decision, and I believe the reasons cited by LINK could apply to anywhere in the country.”
In its rejection, LINK noted its assessment showed there are already cash access services and facilities within a one-mile radius which are suitable for the needs of the local area.
Lynn said she believed the decision did not take into account the fact that the town is essentially made up of a number of small villages, the residents of which rely on the town for their banking services.
She added: “They’ve also not taken into account the thousands of new homes that have already been approved.”
