Mackenzie at Wokingham Festival by Andrew Merritt

Mackenzie at Wokingham Festival by Andrew Merritt

Each week, there are 10 great acts in our playlist, all with a connection to Reading or Wokingham.

Mackenzie – Better Off Alone –

We’ve loved Mackenzie’s single releases and so had wanted to see her play live. We got the opportunity last month when she performed a brilliantly tight exciting set with her excellent band at Wokingham Festival. They certainly got the crowd moving with Mackenzie showing her quality as an excellent performer and vocalist. She has played at a number of festivals over the summer and at some impressive London venues. She is clearly impressing wherever she goes. This is her new single and it’s another good one combining melody and power and that voice that just soars – https://linktr.ee/Mackenzieofficial

Hats TM – just like this –

A totally different style to the above but another artist that really impressed live. That was a wonderful performance that we witnessed at Readipop in the summer. The sound of Hats TM is modern pop with a sort of indie dream pop feel but it has a unique quality too. Every single has been an intriguing listen with subtle melodies that creep into your soul. This is an artist who we are really looking forward to seeing develop as there is definitely something special here – https://linktr.ee/hatstm

The Dead Can Wait – No One Knows Your Name –

UK could see droughts this summer despite wet weather, scientists warn

This is an excellent piece of new classic rock from the Reading based band’s forthcoming album ‘In Lumine,’ which was recorded and produced at John Mitchell’s Outhouse. It’s due for release on October 25th and there will be a live album release launch party on that weekend at Reading Face Bar. Don’t miss that on Saturday 26th – https://thedeadcanwait.band/

The Two Ton Shoes – Something In The Way –

Talking of rock, here’s some more. It’s a bit more bluesy based than the track above but there’s nothing wrong with that as this classic power trio are clearly good at what they do. The band released their three track EP. The Lie’ in July and this song is taken from that. It’s got some of the band’s trademark heavy riffs and a great guitar solo in there too. The band recently performed a powerful set at the all dayer Swampfest at the Reading Face Bar – https://linktr.ee/thetwotonshoes

AlphaLine – What U Gonna Do –

This is quite an intriguing band with a diverse range of styles. This song is taken from their recently released, ‘Electromagnetic’ album which was recorded with local producer, Aaron Cilia – https://www.alphalineband.com/

One Last Day – No Chemical Reimagined –

We featured the original version of this song last year. A song has to be a good to work as both a full on rock anthem and also as a piano based ballad. This one certainly does that – https://linktr.ee/onelastday/

Voodoo Radio – Space Girl –

It’s the power and energy of the Cumbrian father/daughter duo of singer/guitarist Paige and guitarist Tony who returned to Reading in August to perform a great set in support of the Inspiral Carpets at Sub 89 – https://www.voodooradio.co.uk/

Cybernaut – Califrae –

This year is the 30th Anniversary of this 90’s trance band being formed so Reading based DJ and band manager, Bob Hughes, played a special Cybernaut DJ set in Frome. Somerset in celebration – https://www.facebook.com/cybernautuk

Frant1c – Where Have You Been? –

Frant1c is a project initiated by Anne-Claire Rallo of Nine Skies & Solace Supplice and she has created a wonderful album called ‘A Brand New World’ that is out now – https://linktr.ee/frant1c

Áine Deane – the one before the one –

This song was picked by Helen Taylor of the Wokingham Festival management team as one of her fave performances at the event. It’s the extremely talented singer songwriter Áine Deane – https://www.ainedeanemusic.com/
