READING FC are back on home soil on Wednesday for another crucial clash for their Championship survival hopes when they host high flying Luton Town.
With the teams at opposite ends of the table, the Royals are fighting to try and maintain their Championship status, while the Hatters have their sights set on getting promoted to the Premier League.
Noel Hunt’s team picked up a valuable point against Championship leaders Burnley on Saturday to put them level on points with Cardiff City and just a point behind QPR and Huddersfield Town.
Luton have enjoyed another remarkable campaign where they have battled against the odds to put themselves in the promotion hunt.
They go into Wednesday night in third place with a small hope of gaining automatic promotion. They are five points behind second place Sheffield United who have a game in hand.
However, Luton are a shoe-in to make the play-offs and need just one point from their remaining four matches to confirm their place in the top six.
Despite losing manager Nathan Jones earlier in the season after he departed to join Premier League Southampton, the Hatters managed to regroup and maintain their excellent form under new boss Rob Edwards.
Edwards started the season as Watford boss but was dismissed by the Hornets after just 11 games in charge as the club continued their streak of cycling through several managers each season.
Edwards was appointed by Luton in November with the team in 10th spot and one point off the play-off positions.
Luton have been in exceptional form and are unbeaten in their last 10 league outings, last being beaten by Burnley in February.
Edwards’ team collected three more points to consolidate their position in third when they defeated Rotherham 2-0 with goals from Carlton Morris and Cauley Woodrow.
The Hatters have the joint second best defensive record in the division having only conceded 36 goals in 42 games.
Morris leads the goalscoring charts for his team and has netted 18 times in 41 games which puts him as the third highest scorer in the league.
When the teams met back in November, iit ended in a goalless draw.
