ROGER HERRIDGE says Liam Vaughan “will have every opportunity” to become Binfield’s first choice goalkeeper next season.
The youngster has risen through the ranks at the club and was handed sporadic appearances during the 2016/17 campaign.
But with the news that Mo Nyamunga has moved on to join Combined Counties side Badshot Lea, Vaughan is now the only senior keeper on the books.
Speaking to The Wokingham Paper last month, Binfield boss Roger Herridge revealed he was on the look-out for a new man between the sticks to compete with youngster Liam Vaughan.
“Mo came in early in the season and did well,” said Herridge.
“We’ve got Liam Vaughan who has come all the way through our youth setup and done very, very well.
“That’s an area we are looking at.
“Liam will have every opportunity to be the number one next year.
“We’re certainly looking at maybe an experienced goalkeeper there.”
Nyamunga only moved to the Moles during the 2016/17 campaign to replace Garry Aulsberry as first choice goalkeeper.
But he has now moved back nearer to his university with Herridge taking to Twitter last night to thanks the keeper for his efforts during his short stint with the Moles.
“Good luck to Mo and good luck back at uni,” said the boss.
“He answered our SOS call last season and had some great performances.”
Badshot finished 21st in the Combined Counties Premier League last season with Nyamunga’s final game for the Moles coming in the 3-0 Reading Senior Cup final defeat to Bracknell Town at Madejski Stadium.
