THE ROTARY Club of Reading Maiden Erlegh has distributed the proceeds of its Charity Golf Day among nine charities.
The organisation’s successful event, held in July, allowed them to support a range of worthwhile causes, locally and internationally.
Scott Trathen, joint president of the Rotary Club, said: “It was a highly successful golf day, and players gave generously to support local charities.
“We are delighted to have distributed the money raised so quickly and to have made a difference to so many excellent local causes that do such good in our community.”
Kids Cancer Charity received the largest donation, enabling two local families with a child undergoing cancer treatment to enjoy a much-needed break in a holiday home.
Other charities to benefit, were: The Link Visiting Scheme, which forges life-enhancing social connections between older people and volunteers; Yeldall Manor, a Reading residential treatment centre for men with drug and alcohol addiction; The Cowshed, providing quality clothes and essential items to those in need; Wycliffe Church, supporting refugees locally, Woodley Food Bank; Maidenhead Foodshare; Cirdic, addressing the needs of the homeless and disadvantaged in Reading, and Shelterbox, a Rotary-sponsored charity that provides humanitarian shelter to disaster-stricken zones around the globe.
