If you have a real Christmas tree, here’s how to recycle it in Wokingham borough.
Garden waste collection – chop it up and put it in your brown garden waste bin or bag. Make sure decorations and lights are removed
Recycling centres – take it to a re3 recycling centre in Reading or Bracknell. Make sure decorations and lights are removed
Replant it – if your tree still has roots, give it a second life in your garden
You can’t recycle artificial trees, but you can find them new home if they’re in good condition – consider friends, families, community exchange sites and charity shops.
Sue Ryder’s Treecycling service is an option in selected RG postcodes within Wokingham Borough, though you must book by Sunday (January 4).
Collections take place between January 7 and 16, in return for a small donation to fund the charity’s services, and your tree will be chipped or composted.
Next Christmas, you could look into renting a potted tree. Rental trees are collected and replanted afterwards, making them the most sustainable choice.
