SHINFIELD gathered to recognise the sacrifices made by members of the armed forces who have died in the line of duty at its annual Remembrance service at the village’s war memorial.
Hundreds of residents and guests came to pay their respects and watch the traditional procession of community groups, churches, school and local dignitaries make its way from the health centre to School Green.

The service was conducted by Shinfield Community Church minister Revd Nathan Hunt and team leader of the Loddon Reach Benefice Revd Nigel Beer.
Lynda Hope, Shinfield Parish Council’s communications officer, said: “It is always an honour to host and support the Remembrance Sunday proceedings. It was pleasing to see over 500 people from the community gather to pay their respects to those who laid down their lives for our country and support those who have been, or are, victims of war.

“Special thanks go to Mr Nathan Hunt and Mr Nigel Beer for their Remembrance Service, as well as those who laid wreaths or provided a reading and to all the volunteers who take time to support Remembrance Sunday.
“Finally, our thanks to all those, young and old, who turn out each year to mark Remembrance Sunday.”
Refreshments were served inside the School Green Centre after the conclusion of the ceremony.
