Sounds of the season were heard in Wokingham’s town hall on Saturday, thanks to a special festive sing-a-long.
Members of Trinity Concert Band regaled music lovers at a lunchtime concert attended by the town mayor, Cllr Philip Mirfin.
“The event was organised to raise money for Wokingham Town Mayor’s charity: Macmillan Cancer Support,” said Dave Robson, concert secretary and a trombone player with with the band.
“There were about 60 people in the audience and they all seemed to enjoy it. It was a very relaxed event.
“People were singing along – they did have song sheets so no-one had an excuse not to join in!
“The event was well organised with minced pies and mulled wine to enjoy as well.”
The festive event is one of a number of lunchtime concerts organised by Wokingham Town Council in the run-up to Christmas.
The next one takes place tomorrow (Thursday, December 10). For this event, The Cameo Singers will be performing between noon and 1pm.
The concert is free but a donation towards the Town Mayor’s Charity – Macmillan Cancer Support would be very welcome.
And if that wasn’t enough, Trinity Concert Band is getting ready for its Christmas concert, on Saturday, December 19.
