A NEW one-stop shop for budding musicians has launched in Wokingham, set to serve artists from across Berkshire.
Turntable Media has opened for business, bringing together recording spaces, content studios, and other provisions for musicians.
They launched with a party at their new premises in Toutley Road, Wokingham, with musicians, producers, and presenters invited along to celebrate.
The space offers state of the art recording equipment, including vocal and drum booths, a control room, in fully-soundproofed, acoustically-treated sound rooms.
It also provides a visual content space, where artists can create content for online platforms and social media, including a range of backdrops and art suitable for music videos.
The space also includes a rest area complete with entertainment facilities such as games consoles and tv for artists’ down-time.
Turntable further offers support with marketing materials, such as headshots and conceptual shoots, events, and consultancy support.
The company is run by a team of artists, musicians, and industry stalwarts, with Brandon James (AKA Munboi) acting as production lead, Shaun Dagnall leading visuals, and presenter and music journalist Alex West as strategic lead.
As Munboi, James has garnered hundreds of thousands of listens per song on Spotify, including nearly 60,000 monthly listeners.
As a presenter, Alex West has been one of the driving forces behind BBC Introducing in Berkshire, seeing a number of burgeoning acts from around the borough through to the next stages of their careers.
Mr James said: and “It’s been an emotional rollercoaster and a labour of love setting up this space– but I’m so excited about the team around me, and I’m looking forward to helping artists in our local community to stand out on a national level”
Following the launch party, Mr West said: “It was amazing to see a lot of really inspiring people who are hopefully going to be working with us for years to come.
“We were joined by local music managers, producers who even have their own studios, a few independent music magazines.
“Charlie [Charles] from B Radio came down,and he was really impressed with the space– he was lost for words.”
He explained: “We’ve all been working on our own projects for a time, and then we started working together on different things.
“Brandon is an incredibly talented producer– he racked up two million streams on his debut album– so we’re going to be using those same strategies to take others to the next level.
“Turntable is about continuing to be able to bring people together in a place that has everything you need as an artist.
“They can come and record, get advice, use assets for any visuals or audio, which is really lacking locally.”
