Plans that would have seen cocktails introduced at a Winnersh cafe have been refused by Wokingham Borough Council officers.
Krisztina Nemeth of Java Cafe had applied for a certificate of lawfulness for a change of use of the building at the former garage at the junction of Reading Road and King Street Lane.
Had it been approved, the new use would have been a café/restaurant/cocktail bar.
The proposed change of use would not have involved any internal or external changes.
This new use would have seen “slightly” extended hours compared with the existing permitted hours.
The property has been used as a cafe and breakfast venue for about 15 years.
The application said the main service in Java Cafe would remain to serve coffee and food, and that selling alcohol/cocktails would have been an additional service.
