STUDENTS at one of the borough’s newest schools have been kitted out with some of the newest technology thanks to makers of one of the newest developments in the borough.
Last month, the students from Bohunt School in Arborfield Green were presented with five virtual reality headsets from Redrow Homes.
Each of the headsets is worth £1,000 and allow students to explore the world beyond the classroom without leaving it.
The virtual reality technology allows headset wearers to enter an immersive world and explore it using hand gestures and moving around.
It is planned that the headsets will be put to educational use with an emphasis on STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), aimed at preparing its students for university and careers beyond secondary education.
Nick Thomas, Assistant Head Teacher of Achievement and Progress at Bohunt School, said: “We are extremely grateful to Redrow Homes for the generous donation of the VR headsets; the students are really looking forward to getting stuck into the world of VR.
“We’ve got various plans and ideas of how the headsets will provide alternative platforms to enhance learning experiences across the STEM subjects and other curriculums through the year groups.”

And it’s not just the headsets that are turning heads at Arborfield Green: the homes are too.
Redrow said that Kerry Smith and her partner Andy purchased a brand-new home at its Kingsley Park development set within Arborfield Green, and a stone’s throw from Bohunt School.
Kerry said: “We were looking for a good quality new build property close to our eldest daughter’s fantastic school, Bohunt Wokingham, and Redrow Homes’ Kingsley Park ticked those boxes for us.”
Kingsley Park is a collection of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom homes
from Redrow’s Heritage Collection that take cues from by the arts and crafts movement.
