VISITORS to Wokingham may have noticed a couple of painted animals hanging around on town centre road signs this week.
A cat appears to lounge along the white bar of a no-entry sign outside The Ship Inn at the junction of Peach Street, and on the Broad Street junction with Rose Street a monkey hangs from the top of another circular no-entry sign, apparently surveying the traffic below.

Could this be the work of Catsy, Wokingham’s previous wall artist, changing tack?
Could it be ‘Pranksy’, an anonymous joker who recently altered council signage for comic effect?
Has the Oxfordshire artist Impro, who attached a urinal to the bottom of Sonning Bridge, been at work?
Or could it even be that Banksy himself is in the neighbourhood?
They’re nicely done, but after contacting Banksy, Wokingham.Today can confirm that, sadly, these are not his work.

Any removal of the artwork will be the job of Wokingham Borough Council’s Highways Department.
