AN ANNUAL event that champions the work of borough environmental groups returned to Maiden Erlegh Nature Reserve.
Earley Town Council’s Green Fair brought together small local businesses selling a variety of wares, including homemade cakes, honey, jewellery, art, gifts, and plants
Conservation charities, environmental groups and local community groups were also on hand during the day to explain their conservation work with visitors to the event.
Earley Town Council offered a free plant pot decorating and planting activity, while its mini-Helpshop gave out general advice to residents and supplied recycling bags.
Members of the Earley Repair Café chatted with visitors about the wide range of skills their volunteers possess, and the various items they are able to help repair and save from landfill.
And volunteers from Spokes ETC helped spread the word about the new bike workshop that has opened at Centrepoint Community Centre.
Sweeping Beauty, one of the borough’s newly named roadsweepers, was onsite, with Richard Bisset from Wokingham Borough Council explaining how it works.
Refreshments at the fair included pizzas from Pizzatron, snacks and refreshments from Maiden Erlegh Rotary Club, and ice creams.
Earley Town Council thanks all its stallholders and visitors for helping to make the day successful and enjoyable, and looks forward to seeing everyone again next year.
The Green Fair takes place annually on the first Saturday in August.
