READING FC came from a goal down to take three points as strikes from Charlie Savage and Caylan Vickers helped the Royals beat Bolton Wanderers.
On a day that saw the Reading fans stage more protests against club owner Dai Yongge, the supporters were able to back the team onto victory.
With Reading a goal down, the Royals fought back as Savage’s pinpoint strike from range got them level before Vickers converted from close range in the 86th minute.
Following the international break, Reading returned to action as Ruben Selles handed a Royals debut to striker Dom Ballard, while Clinton Mola was also given his first start.
The centre back pair of Nelson Abbey and Tyler Bindon returned to the starting line-up as they looked to continue their impressive form.
There was a place on the Bolton bench for former Royals striker Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, who played 56 times for Reading and scored 17 goals.
The hosts started brightly and won a corner in the opening 16 seconds of the match that was headed out of the box and fell for Mola who hit a wild shot over the top.
Charlie Savage then had a half chance when he poked a shot goalwards that travelled just wide.
Wanderers started to play themselves into the game and Nelson Abbey sensed the danger early as he got across to cover his full-back to prevent Randell Williams from progressing any further.
Ricardo Santos went into the book for Bolton after he tripped Harvey Knibbs on the left-wing with Reading unable to capitalise from the resulting free-kick.
The 16th minute came and the Reading fans made their voices heard and their protest seen as they launched tennis balls onto the pitch.
The match came to a halt with hundreds of tennis balls on the turf as the Royals fans loudly chanted in protest of owner Dai Yongge.
With the match back up and running, Bolton got going quickly and scored within moments of the restart.
Dion Charles proved too strong for Tyler Bindon before he drilled the ball into the far corner past David Button with an emphatic finish.
Wanderers had chances to extend their advantage as Button came to Reading’s rescue on a few occasions.
The Royals keeper saved from Victor Adeboyejo’s on two occasions and made an even smarter stop when he reacted quickly to stop Bolton from heading in at close quarters.
Femi Azeez came closest to getting Reading on terms when he pulled the trigger from outside the box and saw his shot slam the crossbar.
There was an appeal for a penalty when Dom Ballard when down under a challenge in the box, but the referee deemed it to be simulation and cautioned the Royals striker.
Selles made a double change just before the hour mark as Ballard and Knibbs were replaced by Ben Elliott and Paul Makairu.
Reading created their first opening of the half through Elliott pulled the ball back into Mukairu’s path and his first timed effort was tipped over by Nathan Baxter.
Mola sent in a dangerous cross to the back post but Elliott wasn’t able to hook the ball on target.
Savage then had a sight of goal in the box and opted to try to lift the ball over the keeper as his clever effort landed on the roof of the net.
Bolton responded at the other end with a chance of their own which was diverted off target.
Reading got themselves level in the 77th minute when Savage thundered an effort at goal that cannonned off the post and in.
Wanderers had an opportunity to restore their lead almost immediately with a free-kick in a fortuitous position, but Button managed to hold on to the drilled shot.
Selles made another double change as Amadou Mbengue and Caylan Vickers took the places of Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan and Sam Hutchinson for the final 10 minutes plus stoppage time.
Reading went in search of finding a winner as Femi Azeez burst down the right and unleashed a powerful effort that was kept out by Baxter.
And they found the winner in the 86th minute as substitutes Mbengue and Vickers combined which saw the academy graduate sneak in front of a Bolton defender to turn the ball in.
Bolton were reduced to 10 men in added time as Eoin Toal was given his marching orders for a second bookable offence after tripping Azeez.
Reading navigated their way through seven minutes of added time to claim three important points.
