The Wokingham Volunteer Centre is a small, local charity with a big impact! We are looking to take on two new volunteers to help support what we do.
The first role is a Communications volunteer, to help raise our profile within Wokingham Borough and is a key objective of this role, building upon the contacts and relationships already in place and extendin
g its reach to all sectors of our community. Through the efforts of this post-holder and working with the existing team, we want to ensure anyone who is thinking of volunteering, and any organisation looking for volunteers, knows about The Wokingham Volunteer Centre and how to contact us.
We are looking for a volunteer with the knowledge and skills necessary to help us achieve our aims. Understanding how to get the greatest reach and penetration from published media, including social media, along with the requisite experience to create content would be ideal but we are willing to take on a volunteer with some of the necessary skills and help them to develop with a real, live project.
This depends on the successful candidate but we would like to produce at least one social media post per week on each platform (can be duplicated) along with a monthly newsletter. Content creation in the form of video interviews is also required, to build a suite of compelling and engaging material for ongoing use. The best way to produce this is open for discussion and remote working at times to suit you is entirely possible.
The other opportunity available, which is essential to the smooth running of our charity, is for a new IT systems support volunteer.
Due to the retirement of our current IT Volunteer we need to find someone with the skills, knowledge and time available to support our IT related systems. The role may be performed largely from home or other remote location but a local presence and availability to attend the office from time to time is also important. There may be occasions when IT support is requested at short notice, from a maintenance perspective, but otherwise can usually be scheduled to fit in to the volunteer’s own schedule.
The focus of the Systems Support role is mainly on systems rather than support for the utilisation of specific software packages but additional knowledge and skills would be a welcome addition.
Based in Crowthorne, Berkshire and run entirely by volunteers, the Crowthorne Stroke and Disabled club offer an opportunity to socialise and a change of scene for local residents who have had a stroke or who have a physical disability. We meet on the fourth Thursday of every month except August and December. On alternate months we meet in the Morgan Centre, Crowthorne. We go on outings every other month.
We run quizzes and raffles. We have guest speakers. We go on pub lunches and garden centre visits. Once a year, in the Summer, we organise a river boat trip. We are looking for more volunteer to help us at our meetings and/or outings.
If you are interested in discussing any of these roles, please get in touch with the Wokingham Volunteer Centre on 0118 977 0749 or email [email protected].
