Extra socks and gloves were needed to take part in a Woodcote event at the weekend, as runners raised money for charity.
Despite freezing cold temperatures Pangbourne Rotary’s annual Woodcote 10k run was a great success.
Around 450 registered for the event, with nearly 400 starting the race despite the icy weather.
The Rotary fundraiser achieved an estimated total of £5000, which will be donated to charitable causes: Parkinson’s UK, Motor Neurone Disease Association, and Pangbourne Rotary’s chosen charity.
A spokesman said: “We are grateful for the runners (the largest number of entrants since the pandemic, and over 40% up on last year) who truly enjoy participating in this tough event.
“And thanks, too, to all the volunteers who make this happen; Rotarians from several local clubs, friends and partners of our members, and volunteers from our charities.
“We are also indebted to our sponsors Warmingham’s Estate Agents and Peppard Building Supplies – we thank you all.”
Overall winners of the event were Chris Lucas and Dani Bailey, who received presentations from Bob Warmingham and Pangbourne Rotary president James Richardson.
