CHARVIL charity My Cancer My Choices (MCMC) had five fundraisers running for it this month.
Along with around 59,000 other people, they took part in this year’s London Marathon.
The event begins at Greenwich Park and Blackheath, passes through Charlton and Deptford, and around the Cutty Sark.
Runners then crossTower Bridge, circle Canary Wharf, and finish on The Mall by Buckingham Palace.
The MCMC fundraisers had personal reasons for supporting the charity, their family members having benefited from the charity’s complementary therapies during their cancer journeys.
Between them the runners have so far raised more than £22,000.

Claire Rhodes, MCMC’s CEO, said: “We are blown away by their fabulous achievements, and hugely grateful for their dedication to fundraising for us.
“There’s still time to support their efforts, and all funds raised will help us to provide more people living with cancer in Berkshire with a range of complementary therapies.

“We encourage anyone inspired to run after watching the marathon, to apply for one of our places for 2027.”
MCMC provides a safe space for people affected by cancer to access free complementary therapies, including acupuncture, reflexology, massage, reiki and mindfulness.
Its services are designed to reduce the side effects of conventional treatment while supporting the person’s physical and emotional wellbeing.
It has offered comfort and personalised, people-centred support to more than 2,000 adults facing cancer over the past decade.

MCMC relies on fundraising to run its services, and applications are now open to run for the charity next year, taking one of its four TCS London Marathon Charity Bond places.
The organisation will offer full support and encouragement to its chosen runners to help them raise funds and prepare for the day.
