A WOKINGHAM resident is putting in some extra cycling miles this month in preparation for a big ride.
Tim Randall, a member of Kings Church, is about to embark on a 1,000 mile long cycle route from Lands End to John O’Groats.
Starting his journey on Monday, June 8, he’s hoping for sunshine as he rides to raise funds for two Wokingham charities: Soulscape and SHARE Wokingham.
Soulscape supports young people in local schools with workshops, mentoring, and the creation of safe spaces where they can explore life.
SHARE Wokingham is a local food sharing organisation that supports more than 2,000 people each week in the borough.
Tim has volunteered for both charities for a number of years; as a one-to-one mentor in schools for Soulscape, and distributing SHARE Wokingham fresh food to people at Kings Church.

He aims to raise £1,000 for each of the organisations.
Cycling Land’s End to John o’ Groats (LEJOG) is a classic UK challenge that mostly follows National Cycle Network routes.
It encompasses hilly Cornwall, Devon and Wales, the flatter Yorkshire Dales, and steep climbs through the Scottish Highlands.
To prepare for the journey Tim is riding regularly with Wokingham Cycling Club, and putting in some extra time at the gym.
He said: “I’m looking forward to the ride.
“I’ll be cycling alone, so it will be a bit of a challenge, but it will also create some great thinking and reflecting space, too.
“And I’m looking forward to meeting other people along the way
“I’m also hoping my bike will hold up during the 50 miles a day that I’ll be cycling.
“Some tail winds and some sunny days would be great.
“I’ll be very grateful if people feel able to support both Soulscape and SHARE Wokingham through my cycle ride, on my giving page.”
