AN EVENT in Wokingham will transform the Town Hall into a games room.
Wokingham Town Council has partnered with Eclectic Games of Reading for a day of tabletop board gaming.
Organisers say it doesn’t matter if people are already fans of board gaming or just curious, there will be something for everyone, and people will also be able to buy games they’ve particularly enjoyed, at the event.
Cllr Barrie Callender, Chair of Arts and Culture, said: “Board gaming doesn’t only mean Monopoly or Trivial Pursuit.
“As fun as these are, there’s a whole new world of games out there for both adults and children, and Eclectic Games knows them all.
“There are games that require strategic thinking, others that are light and fun, and some that require you to work as a team or simply a race to the finish.”
Organisers say the event is suitable for adults and over 10’s, with people able to visit as a group, as a couple, or on their own.
Participants can expect a social occasion and an opportunity to meet like-minded people.
A selection of easy to pick up but very re-playable modern board games will be running all day, with a few suited to slightly younger siblings.
And professional demonstrators will be on hand to help people learn and enjoy a range of modern board games, including Dungeons & Dragons, which has proved very popular at previous events.
New to the tabletop event is Blood on the Clocktower, a social deduction game that shares some similarities with the popular BBC programme The Traitors.
These, say the organisers, are suitable for older teens and adults.
The Table Top Takever Will take place at Wokingham Town Hall, on Saturday, March 1.
There will be two half-day sessions; one from 9.30am through to 12.30pm, and another from 2pm until 5pm.
Tickets cost £4 per person for each half-day session, with discounted group rates available.
Early bird tickets for £3 per person are on sale until Friday, February.
Under 14s must be accompanied by an adult with a ticket.
