Emmbrook Sports and Social Club has launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise £5,000 to enhance its kitchen facilities.
In just four days, £1,000 had been pledged for the work that will see its existing kitchen extended at its Lowther Road headquarters.
In August, Wokingham & Emmbrook Football Club revealed it had been awarded a new kitchen from Howdens as part of its Game Changer programme for grassroots football.
The work will benefit both the football club and Emmbrook and Bearwood Cricket Club who share the venue and facilities.
Mark Ashwell, president of Wokingham & Emmbrook Football Club (WEFC) and Paul Hunsdon, chair of Emmbrook & Bearwood Cricket Club (EBCC). met with Operations Director Maria Nunes last to offer their full support for the project, and to launch the campaign.
Mark said: “Both WEFC and EBCC are delighted to hear of the plans to enhance the kitchen facilities at our club
“Maria and her team work tirelessly in a restrictive space presently, so the news that Howdens is willing to provide fully updated kitchen facilities is fantastic news and we hope our members and supporters who hold Maria so close to their hearts will support the building development by donating to the fund raising.”
Plans are for the work to begin in early 2024. Any trade people connected to the clubs or living locally who are willing to help with the renovations will be warmly welcomed.
