ONE OF Reading’s festivals has added even more names to the bill for when it returns to a historic venue in September.
Down at the Abbey has announced a string of artists who will be taking to the stage at the event in the auspicious surroundings of Reading Abbey.
Garage rockers Jeffrey Lewis & The Voltage have been added the roster, bringing Lewis’ witty songwriting and effusive, upbeat guitar rock.
They’ll be joined by Pale Blue Eyes, whose music marries ethereal melodies with upbeat but introspective subject matter.
Revered folk musician Sweet Baboo, who hails from Wales, is also performing, alongside Malawi dup Madalitso Band.
They join nebulous purveyors of jazz, electronica, and psychedelia The Comet is Coming, who headline on Friday, September 8, and indie rock stalwart BC Camplight, who headlines on Saturday, September 9.
Rounding out the line-up are retro-futuristic four-piece Los Bitchos; Band of Hope, who hail from Reading and Wallingford; and powerhouse progressive prog-rockers The August List.
Ben Marwood, Band of Hope, Cornelia Murr, HolySMS, Kah’nya, and Ziyad Al-Samman.
While last year’s festival was cancelled due to organisational difficulties, tickets for the event in 2022 will be valid for this year.
Taking place in the Abbey Ruins, the festival also offers a range of beer and cider from Siren Craft Brew as well as street food and cocktails in the auspicious surroundings of the remains one of Reading’s oldest buildings.
Down at the Abbey takes place in the Abbey Ruins from Friday-Saturday, September 8-9.
Musicians will perform on two stages across the two days.
