Irish travel to Wales this Saturday to take on Scarlets in their first European Challenge Cup fixture of the season.
The Exiles have endured a mixed start to their Gallagher Premiership season with two wins from four games and come into the match on the back of a bonus point triumph at home against Leicester Tigers.
“It’s been a learning curve for us but there are some really positive steps taken by the team from the Leicester performance and we now want to take that momentum into Europe,” said London Irish fly-half Stephen Myler.
“We started the season very well at Wasps getting the win their, but then let ourselves down a week later and took a bit of a thumping against Sale. You have to move on, build again and prepare for the next game because the teams are so good in this league.”
The Exiles are currently seventh in the Gallagher Premiership with two wins and defeats, including a bonus point loss against current champions Saracens where Irish were unlucky to lose in the dying minutes of the match.
“It was difficult what happened with our narrow loss against Saracens,” continued Myler.
“We felt that we were within a shout of winning that game and on another day we could have done so.
“But it was a brilliant reaction from the lads to bounce back the way we did against Leicester and that’s down to the hard work that we did in the week.”
Myler was also keen to highlight the importance of the home crowd at the Madejski Stadium.
“It’s a two way thing, if we can be performing and get on the front foot, that will get the supporters in the game. We definitely hear them throughout the game and you can feel that on the pitch, so we’re really grateful to the home support that have come out this season.”
London Irish now look towards European competition as they play their fixture in the 2019/20 European Challenge Cup on Saturday against Scarlets.
Supporters will be able to tune in to watch Irish on Saturday evening (8pm kick off) on free-to-air television with the game being broadcast by Welsh channel S4C, with an English language commentary option available.
S4C is available on Virgin TV (166), Freesat (120) and Sky (134). Irish are in pool two alongside Scarlets, Bayonne and Toulon.
