Plans have been approved for refurbishments ahead of the arrival of fast food giant McDonald’s in Wokingham.
Last week, officers from Wokingham Borough Council’s planning department approved the plans for the former Carpetright unit in Bridge Retails Park on Finchampstead Road.
Those plans include new sliding entrance doors, an additional access door, new glazing and redecorated fascia panel.
Objections were received against the application, but officers noted how most related to the change of use for the property which had previously been approved.
They said: “This planning application is for the refurbishment of the existing building, including minor alterations to accommodate the new use, with no increase in footprint, use nor changes to parking/ highway arrangements.
“The concerns raised relate to the change of use of the site to a restaurant and takeaway, which has already been approved.”
Last week, a spokesperson for McDonald’s told Wokingham Today they had no plans to include a drive-thru operation at the site.
They were also unable to confirm a planned opening date.
