A LIVELY evening of music has boosted Wokingham charity The Link Visiting Scheme, helping to support older people experiencing loneliness across the borough.
An Evening with 8tt4 welcomed 57 guests at Kings Church, Wokingham, for a night of live music, laughter and fundraising.
The local six-piece performance band, known for their energetic and interactive performances, brought the room to life with a set of classic singalong hits.
Held at Kings Place last week, the event has raised £1,008, which will support The Link Visiting Scheme’s wide range of services.
These include one-to-one befriending, social groups, and community activities designed to help older people feel connected, valued and part of their community.
Terry Wilkins, 8tt4 Band Leader, said: “Since we started our musical journey five years ago, we have been committed to bring joy to our audiences whilst supporting The Link Visiting Scheme charity.
“Instead of charging for our performances we invite donations and the response has been truly remarkable.
“We are immensely proud of now reaching the £10,000 milestone and thank everyone who has supported us.”
The Link Visiting Scheme is an award-winning organisation.
Through its network of volunteers and activities, the charity helps build meaningful friendships and create opportunities for connection and companionship.
The charity extended its thanks to everyone who attended and supported the event, as well as to the dedicated volunteers who helped make the evening such a success.
Liz McDaniel, senior fundraising officer at The Link, said: “We are so grateful to everyone who joined us for this fantastic evening.
“Events like this not only raise vital funds but also bring our community together – and that sense of connection is at the heart of everything we do.
“The continued support from 8tt4 has been incredible, and we’re so thankful for the difference they’re making to the lives of older people locally.”
The Link Visiting Scheme continues to host events throughout the year to raise funds and awareness.
8tt4 will be playing at this year’s Hurst Show on Saturday, June 2 , in the Music Tent, Martineau Green from 12.10pm until 1.20pm.
