ON SATURDAY, Woodley Town Council will launch its free Community Climate Action Week.
The event opens with a trilogy of activities to help people explore ways they can be a force for good in their community.
The week kicks off with a litter pick, a sustainable fashion show, and an opportunity to learn key facts about global warming, including what it means for the world – and for the borough.
A discussion opportunity, Voices for Change, will then bring together local experts to help people explore what they can do locally and globally to respond to the climate crisis.
Woodley Town Council Clerk Kevin Murray will begin by sharing what the council is doing to support the local community.
Then Citizens Advice Wokingham will explain ways to cope with rising energy costs and how households can live more sustainably without spending more.
Finally, Professor Chris Merchant, Professor in Ocean and Earth Observation, from the University of Reading will shed light on some of the most important key facts about global warming.
His illustrated talk will explain why a warming planet matters, and how people can speak up for the change they want to see.
It will be followed by a question and answer session for those who want to know more.
Voices for Change: Understanding, Acting, Inspiring will take place at The Oakwood Centre, Woodley on Saturday, November 15, at 3pm.
Complimentary tea, coffee and cake will be served, and all are welcome.
