PEOPLE taking broken items to be mended at a repair cafe in Spencers Wood will also be able to talk with an energy saving expert.
A free pop-up clinic at Spencers Wood Repair Cafe will offer a friendly chat and practical tips to help people keep their homes warmer and more comfortable for less.
Local business KillAWatt is offering its free advice service to users of the cafe.
Mike Bilsborough, who runs the company, helps home owners to reduce their energy usage, their bills, and their impact on the environment.
His independent home energy audit assesses a house, room by room, identifying areas of wasted energy, poor insulation, inefficient heating, and costly electricity usage.
“This local team is dedicated to helping you take control of your energy bills and lower your environmental impact with independent, jargon-free energy advice,” said Spencers Wood Repair Cafe organiser Billie Bachra.
“Whether you need help solving a ‘high bill mystery’, tips on managing condensation and mould or want to explore options like solar and heat pumps, stop by at this free pop-up clinic.”
The Spencers Wood Repair team will also be onhand and ready to give a new lease of life to broken household and garden items.
All items saved help to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill, says the group.
A friendly welcome is assured, and refreshments are available.
There is no charge for fixing, but the group gratefully accepts donations.
Repairers can help with clothing alterations, bike mending, and tool sharpening.
They can also fix lawn mowers, vacuum cleaners, jewellery, ceramics, household mechanical and electrical items.
The repair cafe meets at Lambs Lane Primary School on the third Sunday of each month.
The next event is on Sunday, February 15.
Doors are open from 10am until 1pm.
