Wokingham borough council staff have been praised for their work during a gas leak in Finchampstead last week.
At last week’s full council meeting, leader of the council, Cllr Stephen Conway, said: “ I’d like to commend to council the incredibly hard work of members of our housing team who came to the assistance of residents in Finchampstead who experienced a gas leak affecting properties in Billing Avenue, Vicarage Close, and Daffodil Drive.
“The incident was caused by damage to a gas pipe following a fault in an underground utility cable, and as a safety precaution, the utilities were turned off and various households had to be decanted.
“Officers really worked very hard to support those residents, and I’m sure everyone in the council would like to pass on our thanks to them for the work they gave in supporting those residents in a really difficult situation.”
