Reading FC put Mansfield to the sword as they collected their first League One victory of the season.
After a slow opening 30 minutes which not much to separate the sides, the Royals took advantage of Mansfield’s calamitous defending on two occassions to take a commanding lead into half-time.
Jack Marriott nodded in the opener after some slack defending before Benn Ward tapped in following some lacklustre handling from Mansfield’s goalkeeper.
Reading made it three before the break when a slick move was finished expertly by George Earthy who netted his first goal since arriving from West Ham last month.
Marriott once again showed his superb striking quality as he bagged Reading’s fourth of the night, and his second, with a precise finish into the corner.
Substitute Jacob Brown rounded off the scoring to cap a brilliant night for Reading to lift them up the table.
The result puts Reading up to 14th prior to their match against on Saturday when they host Blackpool.
