PEOPLE struggling financially can get help from a Wokingham funding charity.
Wokingham United charities gives grants to help people in difficulties buy essential items that they can’t afford.
Individuals or families finding themselves in financial hardship can apply for help to purchase or replace necessary things, such as a cooker or fridge freezer.
The charity has also awarded grants for a child’s dyslexia assessment, helped to buy mobility scooters to keep people living independently, and together with other local funders, has helped to buy a bespoke electric wheelchair.
Wokingham United Charities can also help with transport costs, debt-related fees, school trips, counselling and other essential items or services, with each application considered on its own individual merits.
To apply, individuals and families need to contact a professional referrer, such as a housing officer, social worker, family support worker, or a local charity.
These organisations will help to complete an online application.
This cannot be done by the families or individuals themselves, but must be made by a professional referrer.
To be eligible, applicants must live in Wokingham Borough, be a UK citizen or have been granted indefinite leave to remain in the UK, and they mustn’t have received a previous essential item grant in the last 12 months.
