A man from Wokingham is taking on the Brighton Marathon next month in memory of a friend that passed away in 2018.
Tom Smith, born in Wokingham, will join thousands to take to the streets of Brighton on April 6 to tackle the gruelling challenge of running 26.219 miles as he pays tribute to his friend Tom Dally, who sadly passed away in April 2018.
Tom is running the marathon for the British Heart Foundation with a fundraising target of £1,250, a charity chosen by Tom Dally’s parents, Steve and Loraine.
Tom said: “ It will be a week before the 7 year anniversary of our good friend Tom Dally passing away so fundraising for a charity chosen by his parents Steve & Loraine.
“I’m raising money for the British Heart Foundation and I’d be so grateful for your support.
“The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives.
“It’s only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures.
“£24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target. Thanks!”
