Laura Blumenthal, Conservative
Laura has represented South Lake on Wokingham Borough Council since May 2015.
‘I love speaking to residents and helping improve the local area. I’m happy that I’ve been able to improve accessibility around the lake with the new path and to the Highwood Nature Reserve. If re-elected I will continue to protect our green areas.
‘Investment in Woodley is really important and I’m supportive of the re-building of Bulmershe Leisure Centre using housing developers’ funding as well as the resurfacing of a number of roads in South Lake this year.’
Laura has had family living in Woodley since the 1960s and her mum even went to South Lake Primary School.
A London commuter, she is often at Earley train station on her way to her communications job for a mobile phone operator.
Laura went to Maiden Erlegh School and brings the school’s ethos of enthusiasm and helping the local community to her role as a councillor.
Beth Rowland, Liberal Democrat
Beth and her family have lived in South Lake for over 40 years and she is committed to our local community, serving as a governor at both South Lake and Highwood Primary Schools and having represented the ward on both Borough and Town councils.
She has been campaigning for better infrastructure and local services.
Tony Skuse, Labour
Tony has lived in the Borough since 1980. He retired from British Airways in 2006 after 34 years as an airline pilot.
He was a Governor of The Royal Berks Hospital for six years.
Tony was very active in Labour’s campaign in support of residents’ desire to have a public toilet in Woodley precinct and spent much time collecting signatures for the toilet petition.
He is married with three children and five grandchildren and is looking forward to the opportunity to serve the local community.
