A HOPE-FILLED film night is being hosted by a local club to raise funds for a Wokingham charity next month.
Wokingham Film Society will be showing the film, Urchin, for Wokingham in Need.
Written and directed by Harris Dickinson, it stars Frank Dillane, Megan Northam and Harris Dickinson.
It is about Mike, a rough sleeper in London, trapped in a cycle of self-destruction as he attempts to turn his life around, before encountering unexpected chances for a fresh start.
The film is a compassionate and humourous drama, focusing on themes of addiction and recovery.
Wokingham in Need supports people in the community who are homeless or vulnerable.
Its founder, Sue Jackson, is grateful to Wokingham Film Society for this fundraising film night.
“The film society shows regular popular films,” she said, “and this is the borough’s opportunity to see what they do and support our local cause.”
The film will be shown at The Whitty Theatre on Thursday, September 24, from 7.30pm until 10.30pm.
