Reading Festival-goers could be in for a mixed weekend, with the latest Met Office forecast warning of further rain and showers which could be heavy or thundery at times.
Thousands of music fans are due to descend on Richfield Avenue from Friday, with temperatures expected to remain around average for the end of August.
The Met Office’s latest forecast for Reading says conditions are expected to remain unsettled from Friday through to Sunday, with widespread cloud and further rain and showers.
It says some of those showers could be potentially heavy or thundery, meaning festival-goers should be prepared for conditions to change during the weekend.
Friday
The opening day is currently forecast to be breezy with sunny periods and the odd afternoon shower, with a maximum temperature of around 22C.
That means those arriving for the first day could see some brighter spells, but a waterproof could still prove useful.
Saturday
Saturday is expected to be cloudier and increasingly windy, with a few showers possible during the afternoon, including thundery showers.
Temperatures are forecast to reach around 20C, making it the coolest of the three main festival days.
Sunday
The final day is currently forecast to bring bright periods and a few showers, while winds are expected to become increasingly strong.
Temperatures could reach around 22C.
What about thunderstorms?
The Met Office’s broader forecast for the region says rain and showers over the weekend could be heavy or thundery at times.
A yellow thunderstorm warning is currently in place for parts of England ahead of the festival, but the warning relates to Wednesday and Thursday, rather than the main festival weekend.
The weekend forecast is still several days away and could change as the event approaches.
Festival-goers are therefore being advised to check the latest forecast before travelling and prepare for a mixture of conditions.
A waterproof jacket, suitable footwear and warmer clothing for the evening could all be useful additions to the festival packing list.
Reading Festival takes place at Richfield Avenue from Friday 28 August to Sunday 30 August.
