2022 Candidates
Carol Jewell, Lib Dem

I have lived in Woodley for over 55 years and I am a Woodley Town Councillor, and was previously a District Councillor for 12 years. I am very committed to keeping residents informed about what’s important in our area and how the LibDems are contributing, helping to write and deliver our regular ‘Focus’ newsletter. I am a keen environmentalist, a regular cyclist and have a local allotment.
Majid Nagra, Labour
Bill Soane, Conservative
In 1983 I moved to Woodley with my wife Hilary and two daughters. Both our girls attended Rivermead and Waingels schools.
We soon became actively involved in the local community, Hilary became a Brownie leader and then a Beaver leader, a position she still holds after 31 years! She also joined Woodley Women’s Club and was treasurer for 21 years until its closure in 2021.
On arriving in Woodley I joined 1st Woodley Scout Group as a cub leader. Around 1986 I became a member of Woodley Carnival Committee and eventually took on the position as chairman, a post I held for 10 years.
In 2001 I was privileged to be invited to join the local Rotary Club, a charitable organisation that supports local, national and international causes, of which I am still a member, having served as President.
I, along with four members of the community, felt there was a need for a War Memorial in Woodley and we set off to raise £26,000. This we achieved and the War Memorial in Woodford Park was unveiled in July 2014.
I have served on the Town Council since 2007 and was honoured to be Mayor in 2013. In 2014 I was elected to represent Loddon Ward on Wokingham Borough Council and in 2019 I was proud to be chosen as Mayor of the Borough.
Currently I am the Executive Member for Neighbourhood and Communities, a position I am delighted to hold as I feel this goes right to the heart of serving our residents. I dearly wish to continue to work on your behalf to keep Woodley the Town that I and everyone loves.
