A WOMEN’S Institute group invites new members to join them.
Wokingham Afternoon WI is friendly and welcoming, say its members.
The group meets to hear from interesting speakers, to watch demonstrations, join in activities, take part in raffles, and share their views on books they have read.
They share celebratory events together, including Christmas Lunch, and say that of course, tea, coffee and cake is a must.
A number of sub-groups allow people to enjoy their own personal favourite pursuits.
These include a book club; a Sew, Knit and Natter group, a Ladies on Their Own Lunch gathering, a walking group, and members can also enjoy numerous coffee mornings and afternoons.
The group also enjoys days out together.
Special events and days of interest this year include learning about Famous Jewels and their History, a fashion show, an opportunity to discover Georgian cookery, a beetle drive, a quiz, a chance to hear about Working with the Ghosts of Hampton Court Palace, and a talk on The History of Squires Garden Centres.
The group meets at St. Paul’s Parish Rooms, Reading Road, Wokingham, on the fourth Tuesday afternoon of each month at 1.45pm.
Visitors and prospective members are very welcome.
