Wokingham is gearing up to show its appreciation for the military community this coming weekend, as the town marks national Armed Forces Day with a special open-air celebration.
On the morning of Saturday, June 27, residents will gather in the heart of the town centre to honour serving troops, reservists, veterans, cadets, and the resilient families who support them behind the scenes.
This year’s focal point will be a vibrant, free public performance in the town’s central hub.

Where: Peach Place, Wokingham.
-
When: Saturday, June 27, from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon.

Providing the musical backdrop for the morning will be the popular Saint Sebastian Wokingham Band. Known for their stirring performances across the borough, the traditional brass band will be playing a selected repertoire of uplifting and patriotic music to set a celebratory tone.
The Wokingham British Legion will also be present, selling limited-edition merchandise to mark the day and to raise funds. Military vehicles will also be on display.
The event in Peach Place caps off a broader week of recognition across Berkshire.
Residents looking to make a full weekend of the celebrations also have the option to head to nearby community events, including an Armed Forces afternoon gathering at the Binfield Community Centre starting from midday on Saturday, or the Crowthorne Armed Forces celebration dance later that evening at the Royal British Legion.
For those heading to Peach Place this Saturday, organisers are advising to arrive a bit early to grab a coffee from one of the square’s local independent businesses, find a good vantage point, and prepare to give our local service heroes the resounding round of applause they deserve.
