WOKINGHAM’S oldest charitable organisation is opening up another round of its Thrive Grant, designed to help people move out of hardship.
Wokingham United Charities (WUC)’s Thrive Grant is one of a number of funding opportunities WUC offers to support individuals, children and young people, and the charities working to alleviate hardship and the reasons behind it.
What is Thrive for?
Thrive specifically supports work that aims to reduce hardship and which helps people meet their essential needs.
It is not for core costs, but is designed to support project-based activities.
Its purpose is to help prevent issues from escalating into crisis, and to strengthen the resilience of individuals, communities, and local organisations.
And it can also be used to help support the growth of organisations to help them ensure their services can operate sustainably and adapt to ongoing pressures as they help people and communities to be secure, connected, and able to move forward.
Who can apply?
Registered charities, and non-profit, or community organisations can apply to receive the funding.
They must demonstrate clear governance, financial transparency, align with WUC’s objectives to support people facing poverty, hardship or distress, and have a suitable safeguarding policy in place.
The grant can be used to provide direct relief, in the form of food, shelter, or crisis support.
It can also be channelled to help to address underlying causes of hardship, such as mental health, domestic abuse, or refugee support.
