Twyford station parking
Having read various solutions put forward by the council re lack of parking
At Twyford station why cant the council run a shuttle bus from Winnershe station
Car park….it costs a fortune to build and is always half empty…I have yet to see a car use the upper level!
There is more than sufficient space even at peak times!
Even laying on a morning/evening shuttle service must be cheaper than building another car park!! Much quicker journey time to twyford than Copper beach.

Celebrating the Vital Role of Local Newspapers
As a resident of Wokingham, I am delighted to see Wokingham Today and Reading Today marking Indie News Week with a community event celebrating local journalism.
In an age when so much information comes from national outlets or social media, local newspapers remain an essential part of our communities. They tell the stories that would otherwise go unheard from council decisions and school achievements to local businesses, charities, sports clubs and community groups.
They provide an invaluable service by holding local authorities to account, highlighting issues that matter to residents and shining a spotlight on the people who make our towns such special places to live. They help create a sense of identity and connection that simply cannot be replicated by larger national media organisations.
Indie News Week is a fitting opportunity to recognise the dedication of those who work in local journalism and to support the publications that support us. I encourage fellow residents to engage with your local newspaper and appreciate them while they are still here.
Local journalism matters, and we should never take it for granted.
Give domestic abuse the red card this World Cup
Dear Editor,
As the Men’s football World Cup commences and England head to the pitch, millions of people will come together to watch the big games. For many, football is more than a sport – it is a community, united by passion and hope.
But, beyond the anticipation and excitement, football tournaments can take on a very different meaning for many women and their children.
During this year’s World Cup, you will likely see headlines about rises in reports of domestic abuse. Behind big matches, where tensions are running high, it’s women and their children who are most at risk.
At Refuge, the UK’s largest specialist domestic abuse charity, we support thousands of survivors on any given day. But no matter whether a team wins or loses, football doesn’t cause abuse – abusers do.
While these tournaments can exacerbate pre-existing behaviours, abuse happens all year round, often hidden and unreported. Abusers may use football or alcohol intake as an excuse, but there is never any justification for domestic abuse. It is the abuser’s conscious actions alone that are to blame – not external events or circumstances. It is a choice, and it must be challenged.
This World Cup, we’re urging everyone to stand with survivors and give domestic abuse the red card.
Together, we all have the power to shift the narrative, hold abusers to account, and reclaim the true spirit of football.
To any woman who is experiencing abuse or feeling unsafe: please know you are not alone. You deserve to live free from fear – and Refuge is here to support you.
