LOCAL martial arts instructor Digger Barnes has been selected to compete for Team Great Britain at the WUMA Kickboxing World Championships.
Digger will fly out to Argos, Greece to take part in the championships this weekend where more than 1,000 fighters will compete across the tournament.
He will compete in the Masters Division in an open weight division for black belts aged 35 and over.
The 52-year-old, who weighs in at 80kg, was selected to represent Team GB after he won five silver medals at both national and international tournaments over the last few years.
Digger is the founder and chief instructor of Storm Family Martial Arts who have academies in Wokingham, Maidenhead, Bracknell, Windsor, Warfield, Maidenhead and Farnborough.
Storm Family Martial Arts was founded in 2018 and now has almost 500 members.
In 2019, they were awarded as the UK’s ‘Martial Arts Instructor of the Year’.
